why linen?
linen is a natural textile made from the fibers of the flax plant, and for s&g garments and goods, all flax fibers are grown in belgium. the linen for our scarves is woven in a mill just north of kolkata, india, while the linen for our garments is woven in belgium and naturally dyed in an ethical, small mill in los angeles, california.
to create garments built to last, the fabric must stand the test of time. thanks to the structure of the cellulose fiber— the part of the plant used to weave linen— the fibers are incredibly strong and durable. this results in long-lasting fabric that softens and improves with age. linen has both dimension and personality in its weave, adding to the individuality of each piece.
not only is linen antibacterial and breathable, but it’s also perfect for wearing year-round. it drapes beautifully and feels like no other fabric— an impeccable material that you’ll truly feel great in, now and for years to come.
